Hey! It's been a while since I posted something, but here I am again, with a review of another awesome book I read long ago.

I don't know how to describe this book. I can understand why the mistakes are made. We all want everything to be ok, no matter what, to protect our family, to support them. But, what happens when you realize the truth itches in the back of your head, when the truth is consuming you to the point of wanting to scream, to disappear, to be unleashed. That's what happen to Ellie. And Mikey, he's the man of his family, his mom is shattered, his sister is worse, and he has a little sister that is taken care of someone instead of someone taken care of her. No one should put that burden into a child. Not even in Mikey's shoulders. He does the best he can, and he wants revenge. In the way to that, he meets Ellie. She's nothing what he expects. And for her, he's like nobody she has ever met. They fell in love. But Ellie's brother, Tom, has been charged for the rape of Mikey's sister, Karyn. So, they aren't supposed to be together. Both, fight against everything and, at the end, they find the real path to follow. I think Ellie's father is so inmature, but, because I haven't kids of my own yet, I can't really know how's the love for them. That's why I understand, like I said, why the mistakes are made, why they made those decision. It's really hard to be in that situation. You have to be brave, because it breaks your heart. It broke mine, I don't know if I could really lead that situation in my own family. It's a great book of love, the most.

No se como describir este libro. Puedo entender porque los errores se cometen. Todos queremos que todo este bien, no importa que, proteger a nuestra familia, apoyarlos. Pero, ¿que pasa cuando te das cuenta que la verdad pica en lo profundo de tu cabeza, cuando la verdad te consume hasta el punto de que quieres gritar, desaparecer, de desatarte. Eso es lo que le pasa a Ellie. Y Mikey, él es el hombre de su familia, su mamá está destrozada, su hermana está peor, y él tiene una hermana pequeña que está cuidando a alguien, en vez de que alguien la cuide a ella. Nadie debería de poner esa carga a un niño. Ni siquiera en los hombros de Mikey. Él hace lo mejor que puede, y está buscando por venganza. En el camino a eso, conoce a Ellie. Ella no es nada de lo que él espera. Y para ella, él no es como nadie que ella haya conocido. Se enamoran. Pero el hermano de Ellie, Tom, ha sido acusado por la violación de la hermana de Mikey, Karyn. Asi que, no se supone que estén juntos. Juntos, luchando contra todo, y al final, encuentran el verdadero camino a seguir. Creo que el padre de Ellie es muy inmaduro, pero porque no tengo hijos propios todavía, no puedo realmente saber como es el amor hacia ellos. Por eso es que entiendo, como dije, porque se cometen los errores, porque esas decisiones son tomadas. Es muy difícil estar en esa situación. Se debe de ser valiente, porque rompe tu corazón. Rompió el mío, y no se si pudiera conducir esa situación en mi propia familia. Es un gran libro sobre amor, más que todo.

Jenny Downham (born 1964) is a British novelist and an ex-actor. In her first book, Before I Die, the fictional account of the last few months of a sixteen-year-old girl who has been dying of leukemia for 4 years. The book is told in the first person. The book was acclaimed and was short-listed for the 2007 Guardian Award and the 2008 Lancashire Children's Book of the Year, nominated for the 2008 Carnegie Medal and the 2008 Booktrust Teenage Prize, and won the 2008 Branford Boase Award.
